Stripe 3D Secure Card Payments

Stripe 3D Secure Card Payments

Developed By Vinculum

Compatible with WHMCS v7.6

Quite simply, this is the most important addon feature for WHMCS for Stripe users or any WHMCS administrator concerned about a potential business disputing chargeback. This plugin enables Stripe’s 3D source and immediately begins to protect your company with no additional configurations with Stripe or in WHMCS. If a customer lodges a fraud chargeback, Stripe will handle the entire issue without ever notifying you or requiring any action on your part.

3D Secure provides a layer of protection against fraudulent payments that is supported by most card issuers. Unlike regular card payments, 3D Secure requires cardholders to complete an additional verification step with the issuer. Your business will covered by a liability shift against fraudulent payments that have been authenticated with 3D Secure as the card issuer assumes full responsibility.

You are still able to capture scheduled payments as well as initiate capture via the admin interface just like any payment gateway and cards are tokenized just like any card payment. Protecting your company with 3D secured transactions has no additional costs from Stripe.

If you use WHMCS for services billing, one use of this feature not only pays for itself, but can save your business.

Features

  • This payment gateway enables the use of Stripe’s 3D Secure source and directs your customer to undergo the Verified by Visa, Mastercard Secured Code, or American Express Safekey external authorization during a customer-initiated checkout or invoice payment and returns the customer back to their checkout sequence or to their invoice payment.
  • Automation billing of a tokenized card
  • Administrator initiated payment capture
  • Refunds via the Stripe gateway
  • An option to require a 3D enabled card or to permit a non-enabled card payment
  • The ability to add a statement descriptor

Admin Area

  • The administrator can select strict enforcement of requiring 3D enabled cards or non-strict to allow non-enabled cards to be used.
  • The administrator can capture any invoice payment with a tokenized card
  • The administrator can select a statement descriptor to appear on the customer’s bank statement.

Client Area

  • The checkout experience is relatively identical to a normal credit card checkout. There are two differences. Firstly, the customer must re-enter their card information each time they make a payment. The second is that they must undergo the Verified by Visa, Mastercard Secured Code, or American Express Safekey external authorization.

Stripe's 3D Secure Policy (From Stripe.com)

Disputed payments and liability shift

Payments that have been successfully authenticated using 3D Secure are covered by a liability shift. Should a 3D Secure payment be disputed as fraudulent by the cardholder, the liability shifts from you to the card issuer. These types of disputes are handled internally, do not appear in the Dashboard, and do not result in funds being withdrawn from your Stripe account.

As opposed to the compatibility chart that says this is compatible with WHMCS v7.6. Our experience has proved otherwise. The module is encoded using ioncube loaded got PHP5.6 and does not work with WHMCS 7.5 or 7.6. We have also found the support to be non-existent having logged in a ticket 3 days ago with no response.

The idea is neat but, don't expect it to work.
