I recently switched to the Lagom Client Theme and CMS Website Builder, and I’m very glad I did. My previous theme/builder seemed promising at first, but quickly proved limited and cumbersome, especially since it didn’t follow web design best practices. Lagom is a big improvement! It makes excellent use of CSS variables and settings, and its modules are well-designed and thoughtfully built.
What ultimately sold me is the permaslug feature for customizing page URLs. It may seem minor, but it solved a major frustration I had with WHMCS’s native URL structure. I couldn’t find any reliable way to improve it before. Being able to organize pages like legal documents under clean, user-friendly URLs such as “/legal/terms-of-service” is a huge win for both SEO and usability. I can’t go back from that.
That said, there are still a few areas where I’m surprised by what’s missing or could be improved. For example, I couldn’t find a straightforward way to add a video background to a section. The documentation covers native SVGs and static images well, but not video. Even a simple option to embed or link a video from a CDN would be helpful. While I’m sure this can be done with custom templates, it feels like something that should be built in given how robust the rest of the builder is.
I’ve also encountered some quirks with the CSS variables and styling system. It’s powerful and flexible... almost to a fault. While I appreciate the ability to customize nearly every element, it can easily lead to inconsistent design if you’re not careful. For instance, changing a primary color doesn’t automatically update its related shades and tints; those need to be adjusted manually. Ideally, the system would generate and manage those variations automatically, with an option to “unlock” them for advanced customization if needed. This would make the builder more user-friendly without sacrificing flexibility, in my opinion.
Overall, I really enjoy using Lagom to customize my WHMCS site and look forward to exploring more of its capabilities. If these few areas are improved, it would be even better. Thanks!

We have used it for years, but Lagom 2 is on another Level!
In 2019 we built our first site with whmcs out of necessity and needless to say the options to customize it are atrocious at best.
Luckily, we found Lagom version 1 back then, which was not perfect but made things a lot easier for our Web Designer to work with.
We have now purchased Lagom 2 and the Website Builder to overhaul our Website entirely and I have to say you will not find any other Theme or Module that is so advanced compared to any others on the Market and whmcs finally feels like Wordpress when it comes to options for customizing the design.
Also, their support is blazing fast. A ticket response never took longer than 12 hours, and the free Installation was also done within a few hours.

We have been using lagom2 for about a year, and are very happy with the flexibility and features it gives us.
Lagom2 lets us manage exactly how we want our customer experience to be, being able to make it user friendly and simple.
The only major thing we miss from lagom2 is the ability to define which layout/theme to use based on light/mark mode.
